This week we speak to Ludo Blind, owner of two local businesses – Assiette Anglaise on Liverpool Road and Le Peche Mignon on Holloway Road.
Assiette Anglaise is a modern French brassiere and has only been open for 7 months. The central bar creates a real ‘buzz’ and after trying the Smoked Haddock and Parmesan Omelette and house smoothie we would highly recommend a trip along to this ‘off the beaten track’ brassiere.
The owner, Ludo Blind, talks about how running a second business is going, his love for Islington and how important this community is:

The musician and arranger to Peter Gabriel and Blur is putting on a radical listening experience when he performs in the dark at Kings Place this Saturday (11th). John Metclafe will be joined by Matthew Herbert’s New Radiophonic Workshop, electropop legend Thomas Dolby and Goldfrapp’s Will Gregory with Moog Ensemble, featuring Portishead’s Adrian Utley.
John tells the Kings Place podcast what the audience can expect…
Luke Moran-Morris is from where we would argue is the best borough in London (we are slightly bias though). He has been shortlisted for one of the ‘The Best Jobs in the World’.
Luke’s friends around the world have been showing their support by posting pictures like this on Facebook
The competition / job opportunity is run by Tourism Australia and among the roles are Wildlife Caretaker, Taster Master, Outback Adventurer, Chief Funster and Lifestyle Photographer. In total, 45,000 people from around the world applied for the Lifestyle Photographer role and Luke has been whittled down to the last 25! He is now looking for support in the last push to the finish line.
Luke usually lives on St Peter’s Street, off Essex Road, but is currently traveling the world to pursue his dream as a full-time photographer. He has just arrived in Thailand from India and we managed to catch up with the jet setting photographer using Skype. In our first ever podcast Editor Daniele Baron talks to Luke about his application, how life around the world compares to growing up in Islington and how he wants nothing more than to be offered the ‘Best Job in the World’….

How well do you know those who are closest to you? In three powerful and moving monologues, Martin Foreman lays bare the lives of three very different Californians, on stage at Islington’s The King’s Head:
Los Feliz
A salesman in a diner knows the freeways and side streets of Los Angeles like the back of his hand; on one of those side streets he meets the woman of his dreams.
Ben and Joe’s
In a San Fernando Valley bar a group of older men spend their days shooting the breeze, watching TV and flirting with the bartender. Life is quiet until a young man enters.
Sunset
As the sun sets in the Cascade Mountains a grandmother remembers her first date, the man she married and their life together.
